Today is Mine: All Mine

Today is mine

Today is Mine!

H. W. Bryce

Today is mine!
I will do with it as I shall,
Be alone, or spend it with a pal,
Seize the day – carpe diem…
Okay, I might go fishing.
Today is mine, all mine,
Today I am the king!
Endless treasures for me to mine:
I can sing myself deaf,
Or buy an emerald ring…
I can visit at her graveside,
Or donate a pint of blood
This day will be anything but a dud.
Anybody tries to spoil it should guard their butt…
But today is mine.
It’s an open invitation
And I accept, I RSVP.
Mine is the day, I’m busy as a bee –
The day is fine , perhaps I’ll plant a tree.

Oh, I think I’ve earned it,
I’ve waited long enough,
Time to turn that leaf
And start a brand new life.

Wide open arms I greet the world,
Nothing’s gonna stop my whirl,
I’m dancing through the day
Feelin’ happy in every way.
Today I’m worry free
And I can see a future built for me.
Yeah! Today is mine. All mine.
No looking back, no regrets,
I’m not taking any bets,
I’m in control, I’m dancing free,
Today is mine – all about me.

And the I in me will share with you
Every bit of joy, and I think you’re due
For a day for you – but not today,
For today is mine – but you can share
’Cause today I love you all.
Today is mine, nothing can compare.
