Christmas: Time to share

CHRISTMAS

Time to share

H. W. Bryce

Christmas is a time to think, renew, to share,
A time for action on our promises to care.

Hard times are facts where poverty can still abound,
Hard to believe that we don’t care all the year around.

Rum balls and cake, and turkey and sauce, we do indulge,
Refugees, flooded roads and fields, a home begrudged.

I know that I am lucky and I give my heartfelt thanks.
I wish an end to orphaning, to food banks and tanks.

Some of us are toy proud and not so very thankful,
Some of us are lonely, alone and distressful.

Think of abandonment, the wounded, the ill,
They all need our help, their lives to fulfill.

Me is not the most important person on this earth,
Every person here is equal in his worth.

Andy the bum spends Christmas in a box on the street,
Forgotten and lost and never feeling more beat.

Spiritual renewal, swearing to good weal—
To live within that sounds like a pretty good deal.

Merrier the Christmas when we share the year around,
Remember we are human, together we are bound.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
