Next Year

Just you wait and see

H. W. Bryce

Next year I’m gonna knock ’em”outta the park,”
No more namby-pamby, no more for a lark,
I’m gonna be the strong one, just listen to me bark,
Next year I’m just gonna knock ’em “outta the park!”

No more makin’ up excuses, no more putting off,
Time to take my courage, knock all of that stuff off.
Too long I’ve been a coward, time to face the facts—
Those who don’t get doin’ are dumped like useless hacks.

Too long I’ve been a dreamer, too long to wait and see,
Too long I’ve watched the others get to where I need to be,
It’s time to plan some action, no time to shed a tear,
Yes time to seize the day, that time is now next year.

Yes it’s time to knock ’em dead, that time is now next year.
Next year I’m gonna win that home crowd’s winning cheer.
I kid you not, I’m gonna do it, I am fit and full of grit,
The enemy within is gonna grind and twist, he’s gonna throw a fit.

Next year I’m gonna give ’em hell, I’m gonna show ’em how,
I’ll impress them oh so much they’re gonna scrape and bow.
I’m gonna fly so high yer gonna ooh and awe—
Those who ever dissed me will have crow stuck in their craw!

Yeah I’m gonna be a new man come early on next year,
Just you wait you’ll be impressed, you’ll even shed a tear.
You bet yer boots I mean it, I’m resolved upon success,
I’ll be saying fond farewell to the old me in a mess.

So come and meet the new me, the one who I’ll become,
And if you ever need some help, I will give you some.
I’m in training now so let me be most clear,
I will be a new man come early on next year.
