If a River with GOP

IF A RIVER

H. W. Bryce

If a river runs through a forest,
Does anybody see?
If a thought runs through a mind,
Does anybody hear?
Does the thinker really capture
The unthinking thought?
If a rive gets dammed up
Do the fishes drown?
And if a kind thought occurs,
Does it get passed on?

These are things that occupy the mind.
Is there merit in just being kind?
Is goodness a transferable thing?
Can we save the world by coming outside the mind?

Or do we trap our selves in side the question why,
Do we stall ourselves without the question how,
Do we really salve the other person’s hurt and woe,
Or are we content to live our lives inside our own little minds?

If a river runs through a mind,
Does the mind have time to think?

If a river runs through a forest,
Doesn’t the forest thrive?
