As Day Precedes Night

As Day precedes Night

AS DAYS PRECEDE NIGHT
H. W. Bryce
As days precede night so does laughter silence sorrow
–Nancy Ndeke in a poem
As days precede night, as the sun transcends darkness,
So the internal storm gives way to hugs, expressions of love,
Sadness is overcome by hugs, grief melted by compassion,
As clouds cry over deserts, tears are dried by kisses.
As days precede night, as the sun transcends darkness,
So the magnets realign and the likes kiss the heart,
Out of fear and suspicion comes acceptance,
Doubt transcends to admiration, hands reaching out.
As days precede night, as the sun transcends darkness,
So, out of scandel comes gentle forgiveness,
Out of anguish, comes soothing compassion,
And out of echoes of silence comes the gift of speech.
As days precede night, as the sun transcends darkness,
From utter confusion, rises power of understanding,
From the killing and the wars, empathy and peace,
From ashes of defeat rise the powers of hope.
As days precede night, as the sun transcends darkness,
From the dark of the tunnel comes the light at the end,
And out of hope comes the the sun to light the way,
And you shall wear the the garland on victory day.
