A Room with No Window

A Room with no Window

A room with no window
Is no room at all.
It’s a cell,
A confinement of soul,
A stultifying of breath,
A limitation on life.

A room with no window
Is a life pew with no faith,
A room with no window
Is where love goes to die…

Never confine your life
To a room with no view;
You’ll be sure to be lonely,
Crave a new point of view.

You’ll grow pallid and stare
Into the blank black void
Of nothingness ’till
Sleep you can no longer avoid.

Wake up! Wake up
To the joys of the sun.
Partake of this life,
Rediscover the fun.

Break down that fourth wall
And fill it with glass to see through,
And a door to go out
Where others are having a gas
To see the world in its action
And walk out to join them…

Extend your life’s span
And avoid going to sleep
In your brain and avoid
The avoidance
Of a real point of view.

That would be end point
And there’s no point to that.
That would confine you to
That room with no window
And an existence
In which you haven’t a clue.

Don’t make your mind
A room with no view!

— —
That would be
succumbing
to Alzheimer’s disease.
— —
It almost happened to me.
